LG mobile telephone wrapper

San Diego MTS trolley wrapped in a advertisement for LG phones. The advert is hot pink and whitePicture taken on 27 July 2009

These large adverts which cover the trolley cars are called wrappers. They were introduced for during a Super Bowl hosted in San Diego. At the time we were assured that it was a one off and would only be used on three car trains and only on the middle cars. Now they have been a common fixture and can be on any car and any train. In general I think selling naming rights to and advertisement on community resources is a cancer that rots civic comity. But, of such sellouts these wrappers probably bother me the least. In my mind the stations are the temples of the rail road system. The trains can flaunt a little color.

North County Student Transportation Bus

Of course many of us take public transport when we are children. For some reason school buses often park on 2nd Avenue across from Ralph's. I don't know where the children are going. The new children's museum is near. There is also a magnet school in Horton Plaza. Seeing these old buses remind me of hours of misery spent in these solar cookers. This one doesn't seem to have AC either. But at least it is painted white on the roof to reflect as much sunlight as possible.

MTS ACCESS and ADA SUBURBAN

Picture Taken 27 September 2008

This is a picture of a San Diego Metropolitain Transit System (MTS) Access bus. MTS ACCESS & ADA SUBURBAN provides curb to curb service for those whose disabilities prevent them from riding the regular buses and trolleys. There are seperate fees for this service. To use this service you must register, which will require some documentation from your physcian. Though the service provides curb to curb service between destinations in San Diego, the services are devided into zones, so you may have to get off of one Acces Bus and be picked up by another. The trips have to be arranged in advance.
