These large adverts which cover the trolley cars are called wrappers. They were introduced for during a Super Bowl hosted in San Diego. At the time we were assured that it was a one off and would only be used on three car trains and only on the middle cars. Now they have been a common fixture and can be on any car and any train. In general I think selling naming rights to and advertisement on community resources is a cancer that rots civic comity. But, of such sellouts these wrappers probably bother me the least. In my mind the stations are the temples of the rail road system. The trains can flaunt a little color.
